Community Ambassadors Project
The Intercivil Society in partnership with the ICLS of Rome is undertaking a new project
in Bradford, UK. The project will involve inviting community representatives and police
offers to a four-day seminar and apply in a new way the methodology of the ICLS,
earlier recognized as best practice on active citizenship and intercultural cooperation
in Europe. The project's focus is on building civic communities and promoting civic
action to improve governance of diversity. Seminar participants will be encouraged to
show and share best practices from their cities. They will be taught practical skills as
well as learning how to deal with possible threatening scenarios through a simulation.
The seminar aims to use as model how the diverse community of Bradford reacted
to a conflict-provoking situation in the city. After the seminar, participants will bring
back what they have learned to their respective communities and act as 'community
ambassadors' and will be invited to participate in follow up activities with the ICLS and
The Intercivil Society.
